IRENE ZABYTKO‘s first book, THE SKY UNWASHED (Algonquin Books), is a novel about Chornobyl (Ukrainian transliteration) and the evacuees who returned to their irradiated villages. It was a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Book, A Book Sense '76 Pick Selection, and a New England Booksellers Association Discovery title. The e-book version achieved best seller status on Amazon.com and on the “New York Times.” LIFE IN THE DEAD ZONE, and the related film short EPIPHANY AT CHORNOBYL, are based on her novel. She is the producer, writer, and co-director for
both films. She was recently awarded an IREX Short Term Travel Grant to Kyiv, Ukraine to research archival material about Chornobyl for the documentary. Irene studied filmmaking with Dov S.S. Siemans, the B.B.C. in London, and as an invited participant for the Banff Centre for the Arts Adventure Filmmaker Workshop.

PETER MYCHALCEWYCZ’s numerous film credits in addition to being the Co-director and Director of Photography for LIFE IN THE DEAD ZONE, and EPIPHANY AT CHORNOBYL include cinematography for Academy Award and Emmy Award winning films. Recent projects include: Director of Photography for HEART FELT, an international documentary on heart health and diet, and THE NARWAHL’S WAKE, about sonic testing and its impact on marine life in Canada. He was also a D.P. for SELFIE, the Clio Award winning ad campaign for Dove, and for “AMERICAN IDOL: IDOLS ACROSS AMERICA, on Fox. Other credits include: Director for ANATOMY OF PERFECTION, a short documentary on MMA fighter Nick Newell, camera work for the B.B.C., and for many commercials. He is also completing short features he wrote and directed.
